Functieomschrijving

Are you the risk specialist who wants to carry out a broad spectrum of risk management activities within an experienced team? Then we are looking for you!

What you need to know about us

We are Athora Netherlands, an insurance company with the well-known brands Zwitserleven and Reaal. We are mainly involved in pensions and life insurance in the Dutch market. We are part of a European group with offices in Ireland, the United Kingdom, Belgium, Germany and Italy. We are a strong company with over one million customers and we want to grow into one of the most important players in the rapidly changing pension market in the coming years. That is why we are looking for people who are not afraid of change, who are getting things done, who have the ambition to achieve results and who therefore know how to get the best out of themselves and their team. Smarter together, we call it.

What are you going to do?

With its own portfolio of € 30 billion, Athora Nederland is one of the larger insurance companies in the Netherlands, whereby we focus on private assets. To manage these assets, we are looking for a (medior) Investment Risk Manager.

You will be part of the Investment Risk Management team and report to the manager Investment Risk. This team is part of Risk Management within the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) domain. The Investment Risk Management team is responsible for the investment-oriented parts of the risk management function (one of the Solvency 2 functions). The Investment Risk Management team consists of 7 experienced professionals who together carry out a broad spectrum of risk management activities. These often have a financial risk component and are usually also characterized by the required tact and consultancy approach of your advice to the management or to the risk committees.

The culture of Athora Netherlands and the Investment Risk Management team is open and inclusive. In addition, we count on your own responsibility to deliver, with flexibility to choose where to work (home or office).

The Investment Risk Manager has several tasks/responsibilities:

  • Assess new investment proposals from the Investment Office, provide them with advice and present conclusions to the relevant committee;

  • Monitor the investment risks, specifically for the Private Asset portfolio;

  • Support the valuation oversight for the Private Asset portfolio;

  • Ensuring the investment and financial risk related policies remain up to date;

  • Is involved in strategic investment decisions, such as Strategic Asset Allocation and Tactical Asset Allocation.

What do we ask from you?

  • You have a MSc in Economics, Econometrics or related field of study with quantitative orientation;

  • A thorough knowledge of financial markets and instruments, preferably also within private assets;

  • Around 3 years of relevant credit risk experience, preferably in a position within a bank, an investment institution, insurer, consultancy or elsewhere within a financial risk management domain;

Competences:

  • Organizational sensitivity;

  • Communication skills;

  • Personal integrity;

  • Good sense of humor.

What do you get from us?

You get about 900 colleagues who all think they work for a special company. You will have the opportunity to make an important contribution to the socially relevant theme of pensions; we ensure that over a million Dutch people have a good income when they stop working after retirement or add an extra career.

You will have the opportunity to really make a difference when it comes to sustainability, because we have a leading role in our business operations and investments for years. Of course, you will get a (flexible) workplace at one of our offices that are among the best 7% in the world. And because you also work regularly from home, you will receive a budget to set up your home office properly.

In exchange for your commitment, talent and skills, next to your salary plus a holiday allowance and a thirteenth month, you will receive 27 vacation days (with a 36-hour contract) and a public transport card or travel allowance for the days you come to the office. And, not unimportantly, we think, you will receive a training budget of 1,000 euros every year, so that you can continue to develop yourself. This gives you the opportunity to grow, within our company or beyond.

Salary per month: based on CLA scale 10, the range is € 4.193 to € 6.396 based on 36 hours.
