Compliance Officer DPO

The function

As a Compliance team, we are in search for an enthusiastic Compliance Officer also acting as a Data Privacy Officer (DPO). As a Compliance Officer, mainly in the role of DPO, you operate throughout the organization with a specific focus on data privacy risks. The fulfillment of the role is based on the principle of enabling the organization to manage its risks in a responsible manner. You will be part of a dynamic, result oriented and experienced team consisting of compliance, fraud and security affairs professionals. You report to the Head of Compliance.

Your responsibilities

• Develop and implement data privacy policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Conduct regular privacy risk assessments to identify potential privacy risks and vulnerabilities.
• Act as sparring partner for the business in the development and implementation of processes and services.
• Develop, deliver and support the business with privacy training and awareness programs.
• Monitor and investigate privacy incidents and breaches, and report them to the appropriate authorities.
• Work with IT and security teams to ensure that appropriate technical and organizational measures are in place to protect personal data.
• Review and support the business with data processing activities, including data sharing agreements and data processing contracts.
• Support the business with data subject requests, such as requests for access, rectification, erasure, and data portability.
• Work with business units to ensure that privacy considerations are taken into account when developing new products and services.
• Provide advice and support to internally appointed Privacy Champions;
• Communicate with external stakeholders, such as regulatory bodies.
• Advise and inform management and the business on compliance issues.
• Stay up-to-date with changes in privacy laws, regulations and technological developments such as artificial intelligence, and advise the organization on how to comply with these.

Job requirements

• A completed academic education and/or higher professional education (WO / HBO) or demonstrably a comparable level of knowledge and thinking. A data privacy / DPO education is required, a certified compliance education is an advantage
• At least 5 years of relevant work experience, within the financial sector is an advantage
• Experience in developing policies and executing compliance monitoring and advisory activities
• In depth knowledge of relevant laws and regulations, with focus on Data Privacy
• Excellent communication skills in Dutch and English
• Excellent presentation skills
• Affinity with supervisory legislation and external regulators such as AP, DNB and AFM

You know how to deal with the tension between commerce and compliance. You have an eye for the interests of all stakeholders and stimulate a balanced weighing of interests. Finally, you have good empathy, personal effectiveness and persuasiveness.
