What are you going to do?
With a balance sheet of €65 billion and being one of the largest insurance companies in the Netherlands. Athora Netherlands has maintained strong and steadily increasing organic capital generation in the last years, driven by strong investment performance, also benefiting from the strategic partnership with Apollo Global Management.
We are looking for a (Junior) Portfolio Manager Treasury & Rates (T&R) within the Investment Office. The Investment Office manages the own portfolio in two main pillars: T&R and Return Seeking assets. The latter focuses on higher yield, often less liquid assets like private credits, real estate and alternatives. Within T&R the focus is on more liquid fixed income markets, ranging from cash like asset, government bonds, FX forwards, interest rate swaps, swaptions, inflation swaps and to certain extent corporate bonds. These investments are used for income generation as well as risk management against of the insurance liabilities. Additionally, T&R is involved in structuring of balance sheet solutions, performance monitoring and regulatory issues related to the portfolio management activities. In all activities ESG is an element to consider. Within T&R there is a close cooperation between the team members, as well as with the other members of the Investment Office.
You bring to the team a quant bias, initially applying expertise in database management and programming to support various analytics and performance monitoring, while at the same time picking up skills in financial instrument pricing, investments/trading and insurance ALM. You will support senior PMs in analysis and transactions implementation, and contribute to quant-based investment idea generations. In the longer run there is a wide range of career opportunities within Treasury & Rates and across Investment Office. The (Junior) Portfolio Manager has several tasks/responsibilities:
Has an active role in the management of a fixed income and derivatives portfolio;
Will build and use experience with a wide range of financial instruments, like government bonds, interest rate and FX derivatives;
Has a strong entrepreneurial spirit and communicational skills, commercial sense next to attention to detail, diligent, accurate and proactive;
Has the ability to work independent and as part of a multi-disciplinary team with strong analytical and numerical skills and able to handle pressure/deadlines

What do we ask from you?
You have a master degree in Economics, Econometrics or related field of study with quantitative orientation
Strong analytical and programming skills
0 to 7 years of work experience with direct work/internship experience in financial markets
The candidate is a true team player and has the ability to establish close ties with other departments such as the risk department and reporting
Excellent writing and communication skills in English
Fluency in Dutch is preferred but not essential
Preferably a professional qualification, such as CFA, VBA, CAIA or equivalent, or willingness to work towards it
