Manager – Corporate Investments (Head of Corporate Investments)

For our expanding Investment Office we are seeking a manager to lead the Corporate Investments team. The Investment Office consists of 24 investment professionals across three teams: Corporate Investments, Asset-Backed Investments and Liability-Driven Investments, and operates from the Athora Netherlands' head office in Amsterdam. You will be part of the Investment Office management team, reporting to the Director Investment Office.

What are you going to do?

The Investment Office manages the own account investments of Athora Netherlands and is responsible for Athora's investment strategy. In executing this strategy, we utilize our strategic relationship with Apollo Global Management. We leverage Apollo's expertise, dedicated infrastructure and access to differentiated investment opportunities, to deliver attractive, risk-adjusted returns for our customers and shareholders.

The Corporate Investments team has 7 investment professionals and manages our €12 billion Corporate Investments portfolio, consisting of private corporate credit, public corporate loans and bonds, and (private) equity investments. Our Corporate Investments portfolio seeks to support the yield of our overall portfolio whilst carefully managing exposures through diversification across different idiosyncratic asset risks.

Responsibilities:

• Lead, mentor and develop the investment professionals in the Corporate Investments team. Developing Athora's investment strategy with the Investment Office management team.

• Executing Athora's investment strategy for Corporate Investments.

• Closely aligning with the other investment teams (Asset-Backed Investments and Liability-Driven Investments) and supporting a culture of cross collaboration, teamwork and shared objectives.

• Building and maintaining relationships with external asset managers (including our strategic asset management partner).

• Identifying investment opportunities consistent with Athora's investment strategy.

• Overlooking the entire Corporate Investments portfolio monitoring process, including developing insights, conducting credit and valuation reviews and ensuring delivery of expected financial performance.

• Coordinating with Risk, ALM, Finance, and other teams as part of Athora's investment governance structure.

What do we ask from you?

• At least 10 years of experience in structuring and underwriting fixed income and/or alternative investments, preferably in an asset management or banking environment.

• Demonstrated people management experience, with the ability to lead, mentor, and develop investment professionals.

• Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder-management skills, ensuring smooth coordination across functions, senior management and external partners.

• Strong ownership mindset and accountability, detail-focused, organized, and comfortable managing complex processes.

• Strong entrepreneurial drive and comfortable operating in a dynamic, growing investment environment.

• Deep understanding of (private) debt markets and corporate credit.

• A master degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field (MBA or advanced degree preferred).
