Strategist Global Markets – Investment Office

For our expanding Investment Office we are seeking an Expert - Strategist Global Markets. The Investment Office manages the own account investments of Athora Netherlands and is responsible for Athora's investment strategy. In executing this strategy, we utilize our strategic relationship with Apollo Global Management. We leverage Apollo's expertise, dedicated infrastructure and access to differentiated investment opportunities, to deliver attractive, risk-adjusted returns for our customers and shareholders.

What are you going to do?

The team consists of 24 investment professionals across three teams: Corporate Investments, Asset-Backed Investments and Liability-Driven Investments. The investment teams are supported by two expert roles who report directly to the Head of the Investment Office: an Expert - Planning & Analytics and an Expert - Strategist Global Markets. The team operates from Athora Netherlands' head office in Amsterdam. 

The Strategist Global Private Markets supports the Investment Office in developing forward-looking investment strategies by connecting portfolio analytics, balance sheet and capital considerations and global market developments, into actionable insights and adjustments for investment decisions and portfolio actions. You will be part of the Investment Office management team, reporting to the Head of Investments. 

Responsibilities:

• Identify and participate in the development of pro-active investment strategies for existing and new asset classes. Contribute creative ideas and insights, while applying functional expertise to test the viability of the strategy and the consistency with Athora's overall investment strategy.

• Develop and maintain a framework to actively monitor macroeconomic trends, credit markets, and valuation signals relevant for long-term portfolio positioning. Including internal and external data sources, and analytical tooling.

• Perform data-driven deep dives, scenario analyses, and sectoral and/or asset class specific research connecting Athora's Investment Office own account portfolio with key developments in global (private) markets in order to identify early signals of market shifts.

• Translate market insights into actionable adjustments to the strategic framework, including advising on Tactical Asset Allocation actions.

• Filter markets news articles (FT, Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, etc) and regulatory publications (IMF, ECB, DNB) to clear and concise messaging to ExCo and other senior internal stakeholders.

What do we ask from you?

• At least 15 years of experience in global financial markets, preferably in an asset management or banking environment.

• Strong analytical and quantitative foundation (ALM, risk, portfolio construction).

• Solid understanding of regulatory frameworks and insurance specific constraints, including Solvency II.

• Broad multi-asset knowledge and a curious mind, with deep understanding of private markets.

• Clear communicator of complex topics to senior stakeholders and lateral thinking ability.

• Ability to prioritize to be able to provide data-driven advice in times of market disruption events.

• Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder-management skills, strong entrepreneurial drive and comfortable operating in a dynamic, growing investment environment.

• A master degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field (MBA or advanced degree preferred).
